Plexiglass, duratrans, LED lights,

plywood. 60”x79.5”x10”; 2020

From an ongoing catalogue of screenshots of fictional characters looking at their own reflections. This is the first in a series of light boxes, each scaled to the proportions of a queen size mattress.

A companion piece to “News Socks,” I envision an exhibition where the socks fill entire gallery floor, holding a collective psychic sweat while also reading as a minimalist field array. Viewers pass through a well lit space into a darkened room, moving along the diurnal gradient. There the light boxes illuminate groups of socks; the two worlds look back at and bleed into each other, just as they do when we fall asleep.
